The foreshadowing of "I think you've mistaken me for someone else" and "what a hilarious misunderstanding" is top notch. Can't believe it's been 16 years, such a classic.
What-If Machine My favourite part is: "Do you remember what you said to me?" "Not word for word actually, Jenny. But I remember there were some verbs." XD
"We just looked, out. Across the city from our little spot on the hilltop. Oh it looked so pretty from way up there. We talked about how the lights from the buildings and cars, seemed like reflections of the stars... that shone out so pretty and bright, that night." Brilliant.
I know they're comedy-folk, but 4:30 - 5:01 is beautiful. This funny song becomes slowly serious, the camera zooms in, the music quiets, and the audience laughter grows still, as if they're a little uncomfortable about nothing funny happening. Then Bret kills it and it's funny again.
my older brother LOVED these guys! he passed away in 2014 exactly 1 month before my wedding...i resort to RUclips to watch flight of the Concords to remember my older bro. 🤠
i understand you so well! my younger brother loved bo burnham and introduced his comedy to me, and now that hes gone, whenever i watch bo, i think of him :''')
When I have a dream and disturbing things happen in it which have a negative effect on my current life and I'm glad to wake up to realise it was actually just a dream...
Really can't get over how good this performance was, the great guitar playing without flinching and their bodies playing out the song jeez it's too much
"How is that guy anyway...?" "She's good!" "Oooh yeah, that's right ....Andy hates it when I forget that!" That moment when watching The Hobbit ...and you realise Bret is playing Lindir!! Couldn't believe I missed him in LOTR!!
Jemaine was awesome in Moana. Saw the movie yesterday and I the moment I heard the song "shiny" I knew it was him which reminded me of these awesome videos. :)
I saw Moana too but before that I saw rick and morty, in which he had a role and gold pooping fart. So I saw like, oh my gosh it's him and then I stumbled across these video's, which are great xD
my ex boyfriend was not good to me but i believe every relationship serves a purpose in your life. for example, our relationship had to exist so that he could show me this song
We talked about how the lights from the buildings and cars, seems liked reflections of the Star's, that shine out so pretty and bright, that NIIiiiight
Brett is incredible at making feminine faces and even infecting his singing voice with feminine qualities. this song takes a lot more skill as a performer than just the musicianship
I’ve watched what seems like dozens of performances of this song, and not one of them tops this delivery. The timing and responses to each other are just perfect.
To this day, I am still the only person I know who loves like the choncords that likes the song Jenny. I got to see them perform it in Berkeley and I was screaming with joy and no one knew the words around me lol
I’m from Wellington, same as these lads, and I can imagine the hill- the one at Oriental Bay, going up to Roseneath, you walk up the small eclectic rhododendronish forest and through the bush they filmed some of Lords of the Ring or whatever its called (I’ve never seen it) and then to a little and rather chic playground commanding spectacular and ethereally sinistral views of the harbour and the city of Wellington. I saw Bret and Jemaine up there last Tuesday; Jemaine was sprawled languidly, dressed with debonair in denim with rose-scented gabardine epaulettes, reading a worn out copy of _The 10pm Question_ and eating a small Meadow Fresh strawberry yoghurt, as he watched with some slight embarrassment as Bret practised his primal scream therapy.
The brilliance of these guys is the fact that, not only are they obviously talented musicians, their intelligently clever turn of words and dry sense of humor makes them completely unique. There is no one out there currently even close to their brand of humor. It's hard to decide what I like more- their interesting yet soothing musical talent, their hysterical take on words and comedy, or the fact that they are hot w/out even knowing it! UGHH I wish they were still on HBO!!! Thank GOD for DVR!
'We talked about how the lights from the buildings and cars, seemed like reflections of the stars, that shine out so pretty and bright that night.' I got goosebumps. These guys are genuinely good, as well as being funny. I'm in love.
i remember when this video was shown to me like 14 years ago haha. just now noticed how brian says at the *beginning* that he thinks jenny has mistaken him for somebody else.
god they are soo amazing! And I met them about 2 years ago outside a show and they were just the nicest, coolest guys. The music industry needs more groups like this!
Heading to the beerfest in Marymoor Park today. Looking at the rundown of upcoming events, came up on these guys. Never heard of them, but checked RUclips anyway. I smiled without pause....
"Fair Enough" has become one of my favorite ways to respond to a compliment.
its the most common reply in the UK to anything hahaha
“Thank you” is definitely better.
Compliments can be all too rare these days…
i love how they can make it feel like they're having a conversation and still mindlessly play the guitar right on tempo
'On our feet if I remember correctly' is one of my favourite lines in anything.
Zorg2006 >When the teacher calls on you and you don’t know the correct answer but don’t want to admit it
Love flight of the Concords. Easily in the top 5 New Zealand folk parody duos of all time.
Fourth best, I reckon
Top 4 tbh even
Holy shit how many in NZ is there
MUSTACHE DAD haha exactly my thoughts
no THE best
Instantly, one of my favourite RUclips videos.
Oh the big man 7 years ago, nice one

Any chance of getting the boys on a pod?
The foreshadowing of "I think you've mistaken me for someone else" and "what a hilarious misunderstanding" is top notch. Can't believe it's been 16 years, such a classic.
Bret's inflection when he says he's not eating as many sandwiches anymore kills me every time.
😂😂😂😂
"Something like but not necessarily Schindler's List". Ten years later, this remains one of the funniest things I've ever seen.
What-If Machine
My favourite part is:
"Do you remember what you said to me?"
"Not word for word actually, Jenny. But I remember there were some verbs."
XD
It was even funnier when I heard it lol
My favourite bit is - No actually Jenny im kind of releeeeeived
What a great sense of humour you have :-)
It's an unassailable line.
i'm watching this at 4 am... the daytime of the night...
Omg it's 4am for me right now !!
Same here! And I have work for the whole day...

I listen to this on the bus and I can't control my smile. Peak comedy. Love from Argentina
I love that the crowd was so invested that when he said "we have a child" they gasped lmao.
I know they're comedy-folk, but 4:30 - 5:01 is beautiful.
This funny song becomes slowly serious, the camera zooms in, the music quiets, and the audience laughter grows still, as if they're a little uncomfortable about nothing funny happening.

totally agree. musicians first. comedy second, they just blend it so well.
well that was the joke, that it was serious for the joke to work...
"it was daytime"
Baby blue the condoures
The daytime...of the night

Yeah, I’m sorry for your loss man. I hope you are alright after your brothers passing.
I'm sorry for your loss. I'm sure he'd be happy to know you're thinking of him.

Ah, must be from reddit
How they seamlessly go from hilarious song to beautiful bridge with the lookout section still gets me to this day
Don't worry Jenny, I'm actually kind of relie-hee-heeeeved
When I have a dream and disturbing things happen in it which have a negative effect on my current life and I'm glad to wake up to realise it was actually just a dream...

"The day time of the night." literally say that to people all the time and they have no clue wtf im talking about
Likewise!!!😂
Anthony I never heard it or thought about it
Can everyone just appreciate Jermaine's lead guitar playing.
ou7ofspace it's Jemaine
Dorothy Parker I can’t believe it took two years for someone to post this correction...you’re doing God’s work, Dorothy.
I think you mean dad guitar
@@SlainOracle 😂😂
genuinely one of the most beautiful guitar parts i’ve ever heard
Almost 14 years later, I still watch this religiously
same man same
Me too
Yep, in that club too.
yeah
Can't believe it's been that long. Crazy
After 10 years, I still keep coming back to this clip. It's pure gold!
Jermaine literally pooped gold in Rick and Morty.
not only good musicians but well blessed in the poker face
Jemaine C. is so incredible. Love how his voice cracks when he says, "Pardon?" after hearing they have a child.
They have such good tonality and rythym that they can make basically any topic entertaining.
+Burning Child Why does it have to be tonal to be entertaining?
it doesn't. it's just easier on the ears.
+Oliver Maranan Do you consider birds or waves or rain to be hard on the ears?
I do. So grating.
Birds and waves have tonality too. I don't understand what your comment is supposed to accomplish.
love the way Jemaine, says: "Pardon!?" after Jenny's 5:43s bombshell
His voice cracks and it somehow just makes this so much better
Easily one of the greatest recorded comedy shows of all time.
Easily
I watched this video so many times that I have not only memorized the song, but the laughs from the crowd as well.
This entire song is hilarious, but the way he says "...Hi" at the beginning kills me.
"Do you remember what you said to me?"
"..Not word-for-word actually, Jenny."
But I remember there were some verbs!
That and the Schindlers list bit kill me every time
"Do you still get into sandwiches in a big way" is still one of the funniest sentences I think I've ever heard
We made sweet sweet s...sandwiches.
Moral of the story: when somebody introduced their name, always respond with yours
No dude, I want a great song out of it too.
"How is that guy anyway...?"
"She's good!"
"Oooh yeah, that's right ....Andy hates it when I forget that!"
That moment when watching The Hobbit ...and you realise Bret is playing Lindir!!
Couldn't believe I missed him in LOTR!!
OMG yes!
....well, he's the PERFECT choice to play a character who doesn't smile 😆👍
Still brings a smile to my face every single time I see it, remember the first time I saw this, so many years ago.
Yeah me to ... no wonder its had soo many views , this is like my 30th time watching it .
"We watched it and we wept," - "It was 'Police Academy 4,'"
I want Jemaine to sing "yes, we wept" at that point
I first watched this in 2006.. I'm now watching it with my 14y/o daughter who also finds this hilarious!!
🥰
i was 14 when i was introduced to this in 2005...time flies
Imagine being in that theater, having never heard of them or seen the show, and THIS song is your first introduction to them. What a mindfuck.
"Not word-for-word Jenny, but I remember there were some verbs." LOL
this is unironically one of my all-time favorite songs
"YA LOOKIN GOOD"
"PARDON"
"I SIAD YOUR LOOKIN GOOD"
"FAIR ENOUGH"

+Paula Daniels Check out their HBO show if you haven't yet :)
Welcome to ten years ago :)
As much as I loved them in their stand up appearances, I felt like that show crashed and burned.
Sadly it did with only 2 shortish seasons
+Grigson no it didn't. They walked away from it. HBO wanted another season.
Even though I know what's coming up next, i can't help but laugh my ass off. these guys never fail to cmtfu! haha
This music is the perfect definition to the word "awkward".
Ohhhh I know exactly what we did at the lookout....We Just LOOKED OUT!! Haha that parts been getting me for years
Ricky Sachs I just busted a gut hearing it again
my ex boyfriend was not good to me but i believe every relationship serves a purpose in your life. for example, our relationship had to exist so that he could show me this song
I'm your ex and no it didn't, you cheated on me with Derek and broke my heart. I regret ever meeting you and showing you something you love.
Where have you been my whole life? Just now I find this jewel. Outrageous.
I'm also watching and commenting like 8 or 10 yrs after first watching this. They are the kings of singing about anything
It was something like but not necessarily schindlers list
I use that line whenever I can't remember a movie
Wow 2 years since I commented and apparently nearly 400 likes! How time flies

Brett is incredible at making feminine faces and even infecting his singing voice with feminine qualities. this song takes a lot more skill as a performer than just the musicianship
One of my numerous fav's of theirs. Been lucky to see them perform this live twice. Been an FOTC fan since about 2006
Bringing this song to 2022 Just randomly popped into my head as I was working it's working and just had a good chuckle. This is great stuff

This might be my favorite song of theirs. You can't imagine how disappointed I was when it never showed up in the TV show.
One of the best comedic songs ever made in my opinion, delivery and lyrics are perfect. And how about that guitar
